About the Author

Born in New York City and raised in the Clason Point section of the Bronx, Joshua Mateo has been an undeniable force in his community and in the education world. With 16 years of innovative experience as a Science teacher, school district leader, and as a vice principal, Joshua Mateo is continuing to create impact beyond the classroom, with his new book series, Climate Change Charlie™.

Joshua’s passion and curiosity for Science has evolved into many fascinating vistas throughout his life. He interned as a meteorologist at CBS2NY during the Katrina crisis in 2005 and also served on the first ever New York City Department of Education Climate Task Force from 2020-2021. At the apex of the 2020 global pandemic it occurred to Joshua that the pandemic only increased the many challenges facing underserved urban communities, villages, and countries pummeled by climate change.

Joshua maintains degrees in Marine Environmental Science/minor in Meteorology (S.U.N.Y Maritime College); Earth Science (Herbert H. Lehman College); Teaching English to Students of Another Language (C.U.N.Y. City College); and in School and District Leader (College of St. Rose).
